On my car No Vacuum=no Heat. PG.

Thanks, I didn't realize they started that in '74.  Is there a valve in both lines or just the pressure side?

BTW, where's your hood-to-air cleaner seal?  Gotta get that outside cold air in there at WOT, doncha know.

Hi again, just one valve and only one hose seems to work ok but I might get the one from the link and "T" them together.

Been so many years without that hood seal that I just forgot about it.
Please don't tell NCRS, they may dock me a point. PG.

I have a hose that comes from the bottom of the valve up towards the engine and there is a cutoff valve and then in to the top of the engine by the thermostat.  What is the cutoff valve for?

If it's the heater control valve that we're talking about, then it's to shut of circulation of coolant thru the heater core when the temp control is fully cold.  At least that's how I think it works since they didn't have it in '73.
