I have also been trying to find out more about this topic. Someone please post. I know/ understand the benefits and performance aspects of getting a higher profile/lobe cam etc. But what actually goes into the cam/head change install. What do you need to make a completely stock engine run great with a new cam and also a new cam head package, what parts/ labor are required. Can you do it on your own if you are smart and mechanically savvy? also how much more hp can be expected, depending on how radical you go (at the crank) thanks for the help

a most diff. question to answer. first thing speed is money so how fast do you want to go ? how much money have you set for a budget? goals is it a drag strip ,road course,street racer,every daydriver. ? horse power sells parts,cars etc,but torque wins races. get the most complete kit ya can so every thing works together.crane cam can help if ya give them the right info eg ;car weight,rear gear,. is it going to pass state insp. ?the answer is really in you .what do you want the car to do?ls motors aint yer pops old 327 ,the new motors use special tools,procedures. good luck

For me I would like what you call A highperformance street set-up I guess. This car is my daily driver until I have a family. I would want an agressive cam and larger volume heads. Something that sounds f*uckin' mean when you start it up... you know "Clack clack clack clack clack GrrOOOOOWWWLL Clack Clack cLack clack RRRRrrr Grrrrrrrr GRRRRRRRRR ( screams above 4 grand)"" Probably a 500 hp holding clutch. You know... something high powered and id say 3/4 street-able you know. Just less than a car that would be considered "not enjoyable to drive in all types of traffic, and on a day to day basis."
