Just got back from the Chevy dealership.  I got my plugs and wires changed.($200.03) I decided to go w/ AC/Delco platinum plugs and Accel wires.  I got the wires from a buddy for only $20!!  He purchased them and never used them for his Chevy 350 small block truck motor.

Well I found out some good news.  I went in to pick my car up and the shop clerk tells me some crazy news.  My timing was reset to the factory specs.  When I brought it in it was 6* back!!  The timing was set at ZERO.  Can you all believe that?  ZERO!?  Well they set it back to 6*BTDC and with the new plugs and wires...My vette finally came out of the drunken hibernative state that it was in since I bought it.  Seems to have totally taken out the hesitation and the dead spot in accelleration.  Just thought I would share the good news.  I hope to see the gas mileage go up now.   NEXT...Mods?  Maybe.  Thanks, ZR1clone

If it was set on 0, then the timing was retarded. Someone probably set the timing with the set timing connector plugged in.

Thanks for the replies, Blueshark and Mech.  I couldn't believe it.  Timing set to zero...  Well since I didn't know the maintinence schedule I guess the new fuel filter and plugs/wires are just good measure.  I can start from scratch now.  All this time I was checking fuel pressure and injector resistance and vacuum and so on...  Timing...huh!  Glad to hear it actually.  It could have been worse.  Believe it or not the tach now works too.  Could it have been a grounding issue in the dist. cap?  Anyway...

I was thinking of course K&N and maybe porting the plenum.  I wonder how easy that really is.  I have seen them from TPIS on ebay.  I have the MAP intake setup.  What are your suggestions, guys?  Is a dremel out of the question on porting?
