I maybe taking my car to the track for the first time ever this Friday and just wanted to get some advice from those with some track experience. As I said I have never driven this car (or any other car) at a track and just wanted to make sure I make the best of my runs. Now from what I understand I should lower my rear tire pressure to about 25-27 psi and just want to make sure this is correct. Also is it absolutely necessary to do a stationary burn out (power brake) or will doing my burn out by dumping the clutch at a high RPM do just as well? I've never done a power brake before and from what I understand it takes a little practice. Anyhow I think thats all the questions I have, just wanted to see what advice you guys can give me before I head out and make a fool out of myself, and I will be sure to let you know what times I run. 25 t0 27 psi is ok. Avoid the water altogether,it'll drip back on your tires from the wheelwell. You don't need a burnout, just a dry hop to clean your tires off. Launch at about 2300 to start and walk it out. Experiment from there. You wanna lightly haze the tires as you leave the line, not blowin' 'em away but not boggin' the motor. Leave at the last light before green. you'll have to experiment a little but hopefully that'll get ya started. If ya wait till the green light lights you'll be late leavin'. Have fun!!!!! Good luck!

I agree completely. Only thing I would add is that the first time out, focus more on being smooth than fast. It takes a while just to get used to the Christmas tree, the surroundings, etc., and of course, launching the car, etc.

And yes, good luck. Let us know how you do, too, but again, record setting times can wait until later - just enjoy it, that is the important thing.

All the above and hammer it on the first yellow light. And keep an eye out for the guy next to you. I had one go squirrely and come into my lane. Almost wrecked us both. Have fun, be safe.

Well I didn't get off work at 5 like I was suppose to (had a 7:00 appointment) so I didn't get to go to the track....maybe next week.

I have been thinking about that a lot, ever since Lee said the same thing happen to him a while back. Some guy with a FWD car hit his nitrous and the torque steer caused him to swerve out of his own lane.

you will want to experiment with your air pressure,for traction,it is best to bring a little air tank with you,start at 26 psi do a pass then let some more air out,5 psi at a time ,and check your 60 foot time each pass,if you have a stick dont be afraid to launch hard,start off at 3000 rpm then work your way up each pass,if you can dump that thing at 4500 to 5000 rpm and low air pressure you will have great 60 foot times, i no you dont have slicks,i took my friend down to the track with me.he has street tires and a stick,started of running 13,40 played with air pressure and shifting around 4000 -4500 and got him running 12,98 not bad with just playing with are pressure and rpm, i personaly like to run about 15 psi on street tires and heat the crap out of them and launch as hard as i can, just remeber this the harder you launch the more of a chance u could break something,there is a site called orlando speed world and they have a pratic tree. you can pratice with your mouse, good luck and dont forget ypur helmet, long pants,long shirt, and try mixing some 100 octane with your high test 50/50 mix.bring a bag of ice and lay it on your intake to cool it, u will get a couple of 10ths.from that,
try removing your air cleaner to ,u will not need it the track has no dust and will give u some extra hp,and dont fill your tank,you want the car as light as you can get it, have fun give it hell,
light the fires and smoke the tires, ye ha,
