Whats up guys I have an 01 C5 that I picked up last october. The car had 14,600 miles on it when I bought it  and now has just over 15K. The car sat from late November till last month when the weather started to turn, in that time I would wash it once in a while and take it for a short drive then back in the garage it went. The last few times I had it out the car starts fine and everything is normal, then all the lights in the dash and the HUD light up. The display on the bottom reads service engine and power loss to engine  oil prussure and fuel fall to 0, the radio turns off and wont turn back on the memory setting flashes fast on the drivers door and the passenger window wont work. Sometimes this will last for a few mins and other times it will last over an hour. With all this going on the car still drives fine. Any help would be appreciated.
Seth

How do you go about doing this? Is this something you can plug into a laptop or would I be better off taking it into a local shop and not even mess with it.

I have a 02 coupe and I have had the same problem with mine . I cleaned the grounds behind each headlight and alsothe ground in the right foot well . That ground is just below where the wires for the door come through the body. I also pulled those two connectors out and looked at them for corrosion , I then pulled the cover off of the end of the door harness and retaped the ground wire going through there. The ground wire looks like a bare wire with a real thin cover on it.
So far I have not had anymore issue with my doors or dash lights. I hope this helps you out .

You do not need a scanner. All C5s can show you any stored codes on the D.I.C. display. Simply follow these steps:

Turn on the ignition (do NOT start the car)

Press the reset button to turn off any warning messages.

Press and hold the options button while pressing the fuel button 4 times within 10 seconds.

When your display reads "manual diagnostics", press the options button to scroll codes forward or the trip button to scroll back.

To exit, press the E/M button and to clear any codes, press the reset button.

Sounds like a low battery. These cars do all kinds of weird things when there is a voltage loss.

Check that voltage is about 14-14.2 while the engine is running. If your battery is okay, you might want to check ground connections. This post is excellent info:
