I am new to the corvette deal, I have vin number for a car I am looking to purchase. Can I use this to determine what the car originally came with (engine, trans, body color, etc.) or do I need the build sheet. What would a 1970 corvette coupe be worth, good mechanical condition, needs paint, not original engine? The car is currently 350 ci with auto trans, the owner states that it originally was a 4spd car (clutch pedal and linkage still in car) but does not know what engine it came with. The car runs and drives good just needs to be repainted, and some tlc. I think I can buy it for about 9K is it worth it? Thanks

Thanks for the link. The vin number is 194370S410990. From what I can see all that can be determined from the vin is body style, location of build, that it has a V8, and that it is in fact a corvette. Is there any way to tell what engine/trans/etc. that came with this car originally without a build sheet? Is there any way to obtain a build sheet using the vin number? What is the "tank sheet" and where on the tank is it located? Is it on all cars? Thanks
