I spent my saterday puting in a new fly wheel it sounded terrible. Not so bad just starting it for the first time of the day but man after the engine was lubed it had alot of compression and just started stripping teeth. So i took on the chore on.
Total time about 5 hours with dinner in between so give or take an hour. Jacked it up un bolted the crossmember and the heat shield. then the exhaust clamp and jacked up the trans removed the drive line from the back of the transmission. starter was next and then the torqconverter bolt and slid it back.pry bar to seperate the two while removing the ring gear/flywheel. and the same steps back.
The car was only off the ground about a 16" man very hard to do without acar lift or larger jack stands.
So at about 9pm got her finished and i had bought a new autolite starter from Kragen . I put the starter in without any shims , just straight connection and when i turned the key it sounded like .
Well, like god just came down and turned the car on without a starter. I mean really. Now the corvette starts better than any car i have heard even a honda aint got nothing on this 79 starting . Butter.
 it's about time somthing starts going right the first time.
