Started the car today to take her to the dragstrip and discovered a new feature... a factory install hammer inside the crank case. Its a shame I spun a rod BEFORE I raced. Not to be detered, I went to the strip anyway, ran a 15.9 @ 87 and then a 19.0 @ 71... shakin' and sputterin' all the way across the finish line! Let's just say, a couple of 6000 rpm runs will DEFINITELY make a knock worse :) I was hoping for low 14's but loosely goosey pistons rained on my parade. The ride home was interesting, but I made it without incident. Good thing is, it still runs perfect! I got some video of me racing, I'll post some links, but since the car was limpin' they are nothing spectacular. Got enough parts to rebuild without buying anything, but I don't know if I should use one of the blocks in the shed and have it read to run, or pull the old one and machine it, I can probably get away with just a hone on the stock block because I when I did the head swap, there was no lip and the bores looked consistant... FLAT TOP pistons are a-comin', no more wheezy dish pistons in it now. I am off to the Indy 500 tomorrow, never been and I won free tickets on a radio show for telling an interesting story, check ya later!
