That''s the kind of rust issues I was referring to.  Unless the repair is done with the body off, I''d steer clear of it.  Also the frame rail pieces I''ve seen have an internal splice piece on each end to give the section strength.  Just a butt weld won''t cut it.

Hope it works out for you.

the idea of the seller is to make the repair job by lifting the body 1-2 inches, after loosening the bolts , not making the frame off. do you think it''s possible?
But i expect also other problems here and there...look at the right trailing arm...of course both trailing arms have to be replaced

the engine seems ok instead , except some ignition problems possibly due to the old point distributor

I suppose anything is possible but not sure how he can weld in a section in the frame with an insert in it without separating the frame in order to get it inside the frame.  Also if he''''s welding on the frame, etc with the body close by, he''''ll need to be very careful not to torch the body.

Here''''s an example: http://www.corvette-paragon.com/catalog/Product.aspx?id=07E42293-F1E8-4B38-A67F-F117EA0716FA

This is the insert piece that I was referring to: http://www.corvette-paragon.com/catalog/Product.aspx?id=885686C2-F55C-46FF-8B7B-3D853AC26385

Maybe, just maybe, this piece goes on the outside of the frame to reinforce the joint.  But the one I saw years ago went on the inside.  Either way, I don''''t see how it could be done with the body on the frame.

Good luck.

Edit: If you do go thru with it, be sure to brake and fuel lines while the body is raised.  This car looks like it has serious rust issues.

thanks for the advises,

I made an offer to the seller, lowering the selling price, to afford the frame off restoration. But it seem that the seller has already someone offering more than me.

I have also a friend with space in a container leaving the California at the end of July. But no way to find on the net a nice 68-71 350hp manual speed under $20.000 in the whole California!

I''''m a bit sad...I think I''''ll wait

Glad to hear that you passed on that one, if the frame was that bad I''ll bet that the birdcage was rusted out too!
You have a beautiful Vette now and as time goes by you will have it 100% restored.
Enjoy your ride, PG.

I already bought those center caps on Ebay before I saw the car. only 85$ the set ( 1970 caps)

I''''m evaluating other cars , some in italy some in the USA.

I''''ve found a 1970 350/300 numbers matching already italianized but it has the wrong hood and needs to be repainted .that''''s the red one

but the real beauty is the yellow 69 427 in the USA. look at pics. If the seller will agree on about $25.000 , I think I''''ll go for this
