Hi there

I have the chance to buy this 69 350/350 numbers matching. the car is few miles from my place ( she will arrive from the USA in about 1 week)and the seller has a friend interested in my 79 ( because it's a 4 speed manual).
I will sell my 79 at 17.500 euro and buy the 69 at 15.500 ( it needs 1000 euro and 3 months to the italian licence plates). I hope the 69 is OK, because my 79 is totally reliable and I will miss her... I didn't wanted to sell my nice 79 so soon but this 69 seems really a good deal. Once restored, it's a 25.000 Euro car in Italy !

Hi Aldo, the '69 looks real good-looks like it has been restored. I don't know the Euro value compared to the US dollar but the chrome bumper cars ('73 & earlier) will most likely always be more valuable than the rubber bumper C3's. You'll have a little more maintenance because of the old style ignition and the vacuum wiper door but it sounds like you can handle it. Keep us posted.

Hi Aldo, I agree with 78buckshot the chrome bumper cars are worth a little more than an equal condition rubber bumper car.
You have to get the engine number and all the other #'s to verify that it is numbers matching.
It looks like the emission sticker is missing, why?
A few other things are missing like the shielding on the distributor and maybe the lower shielding that goes next to the block.
Is that a crack in the fan shroud?
Are you sure that car should not have a "AIR" pump?
You know what to look for so check it out first. PG.

That car would be a good find, here in the states. I would imagine that it is conciderably more rare in Italy, or all of Europe for that matter.

Hi there,

I know that with this 69 I'll not have a reliable car like my 79... but the project worths the extra time due to the good price of this 69. Actually , if the car is OK ( engine-frame-transmission...) it's a super deal here in Italy.
A frame off restore is not in my intentions...I want to have the car working and enjoy her, even if I know that I should be more gentle than with my 79.
I'll go to see and test the 69 on next weekend.keep you posted

p.s. these old engine had 11:1 CR. So I suppose they were modified many years ago when in the US switched for low octane gas. What type of mods were usually made on these hi CR engines ? less ignition advance? low compression heads and pistons?
In Italy I can use 98 oct fuel

Hi Aldo, you won't really know the compression ratio unless you pull one of the heads and c.c. the total combustion chamber, that's allot of wrenching just to find the C.R. You can get a good idea of the head c.c. from the casting marks on the front of each head and maybe look through a spark plug hole to see if the piston has a dome. I wouldn't worry too much unless you have big issues with pre-ignition (ping), then you can adjust the timing, run a colder thermostat, inject water, etc. Good luck with the prospect.

Since it's an Ohio car, be sure to check closely for frame rust.  That's expensive to repair.

I talked yesterday to the italian seller of the 69.

yes he says that there's some rust but nothing really serious.
The price of the car is so good that enables me to spend some $$$ for restoring. the seller wants 15.500 Eu but the market price of this car as it is now is +20.000 Eu and +25.000 Eu restored and italianized ( 1,5$ = 1 Eu)

the seller bought that 69 in Ohio and drove her to Philadelfia ( so the car runs...) .The wheel caps were stolen at a Motel stop...

sorry for not being on the forum recently but some troubles with my computer

the 69 is here but there are serious rust issues that the seller is going to fix buying some frame pieces from ZIP Corvette. If the result will be satisfactory , I''ll buy the car.
