I''m working on my interior and want to make my seats look like new again. I''ve seen many people replace seat covers and such but don''t know much about it. Any suggestions?Prices? Thanks

I''ve heard that Al Knoch is one of the better vendors.  While it''s not too tough to do, some of the major Corvette suppliers will recover your seats and of course you can probably find a local shop that can do it.

I would order the foam and covers from one of the mail order Vette suppliers and then have a local shop put it together. I really like the two-tone leather that some of the catalogues are carrying now. If my seats were in worse shape I''d be looking into it.

Al Knoch is the the vendor to deal with if you plan on ordering new seat covers.  I have just finished redoing my seats...I bought the covers and foam from Al Knoch.  They are great people to deal with.  If you do decide to redo the seats it is a time consuming project but in my opinion if your seats are in bad shape I would would recommend the project. If you have any questions about the project let me know...I also have some pics of the project if intrested
here is the Al Knoch website if your intrested

I have a recommendation to where the seats and cushions are 1.
This company has been good to me.
Web site is www.zip-corvette.com
Good prices and helpful. Get them to send a catalog.

Unless you have done this process before, I would not recommend  that Corvettes be your test case.  I have done a number of cars before with the replacement vinyl, new foam buns and replacement springs and small parts.  Depending on the year, the Corvette seats can be complicated.  Whatever you do replace the foam regardless of how good it may look.  After this many years the cells in the foam break down and will soon start to flake apart.  I recently did a set of seats for a 71 Hemi Cuda that belongs to a friend.  They do not make foam for them yet so I had to buy a roll of foam and build up the seat before covering them.  Damn they turned out great.

If you do decide to do your seats yourself, get the tool that pulls the wires thru the foam.  It looks like a T-handle with a hook in the end.  It''s well worth the money.

If I were to do the job myself, would the seat covers be the same type of leather? Thank you all so much. It really wouldn''t be possible to accomplish what we can now if we didn''t have this forum.

As skmcorvette suggests go to zip products web site.  They have a great tech section.
http://www.zip-products.com/Zip/assets/html/c3corvettetech.asp
There is a section on replacing C3 seat covers complete with pictures.  This is a great web site when it comes to C3 repair and restoration.
Good luck.....
