I want to start giving my dog some dental treats since his teeth are getting full of plaque. What does everyone think of Bright Bites? I don''t want to give him anything that will make him choke though. Any thoughts?

Don''t know about "Bright Bites", I used to give my dogs "Milk Bone". Don''t have dogs any more, but really want to get a "Smiley Dog". ( Golden Retriever )

What do the treats look like? The Bright Bites treats are star-shaped which are supposed to help prevent choking.

They are shaped like bones, kinda like a bar-bell. Small ones for small dogs, and large ones for large dogs. The small ones are like an all day sucker. Don''t taste bad at all. I gave the large ones to my dog. He''d chew them suckas right up, and had great teeth.

You want to check out the ingredients - don''t want to see BHA, BHT, or ethnoequin (sp?), as they are all chemicals that are know carcinogens (cause cancer) and are used in some inferior dog food products. Greenies are good, also just raw broccolli. Broccolli is a big favorite with our 3 and I noticed their teeth looking so much better since using it as a treat. Good luck.

We used brocolli as well. Had a big ol'' dobbie that loved it. His teeth were white as snow. Only down side is it made him ..."windy". Just don''t stand behind your dog for too long, LOL!.

Windy Dogs - Oh, that''s funny. When we serve it raw we don''t have that problem, but when we steam-cook it . . . look out!!!

Nope his name was Duke, but if you were too close after a broccoli feast he''''d muss yer hair, fog up the widows and make ya cry.
