I''ve had my 82 Collectors Edition for a year now and am on the 4th power window (driver''s side). It works fine for a while and then without any apparent problem it just quits (thankfully with the window up). When the motor quits and you push the switch the amp guage goes wild. Any ideas on why the car keeps eating up these motors? There''s never been a problem with the passenger side window.

Fourth window motor, huh? I''d be suspecting a screw that is too long or some other projection that is penetrating the window motor and shorting it out. I would also examine all related wiring harnesses for chafing, broken or bare wires etc.. Four motors is two too many. Who is doing the installations? When you push the switch and the amp gauge goes nuts it is because you are sending current directly to ground through the damaged circuit. My .02 worth.... hope that helps!

You need to go through that thing with a multi-meter. It''s got to be a short that''s killing those like the last reply stated. Get the wiring diagram and meter and go for it. The only trouble will be that all the components in the door are in tight spaces. Let us know what it turns out to be.
