How''s everybody doing? I''m new to corvettes and I just picked up an 08 Coupe. at about 60 miles into it I noticed that when I take off in first under normal driving I get a grinding sound that comes out of the rear.  I took it into the dealer and they told me that this is normal for manual transmission. If it is normal I''m curious if anybody else on here has that noise also.

Thanks.

Welcome to the site. We love pictures around here. Have fun with it and don''t forget the wave.

Never heard of "grinding" being normal. I am not really familiar with the ''08''s but doesn''t sound right to me. Congratulations on the new vette.

Cheers

Thanks! I really love the car. lol I waved at another corvette owner yesterday but got nothing back... I''ll post some pics up soon.

It''s not really a grinding sound.  More like a scratching sound, and you only hear it from the outside which is why I noticed while I had the top off.

I hope you get it sorted out. Scratching or grinding on a new ride just doesn''t seem right to me. as for the wave,....some people are clueless and self absorbed. I always wave whether they do or not. Their loss.

Well, did the dealer actually listen to the sound?  If so and you doubt their word, you could take it to an independent shop and ask them about it, but the dealer is going to be compensated by the factory for any warranty work on the car so its not like they are going to be that unwilling to do any valid work.  A scratching noise could be just new pads rubbing the brake discs slightly, but if you worry about it, have it checked out.
