Hi engine vin p
Short version new Belden Max Plug Wires arc when engine is at operating temp 180 ish.
Long version car got hot started to miss. Secondary cooling fan bad so replaced. Still ran bad replaced ignition control module, coil and plugs. Better but still missed. Noticed water pump leaking onto distributor cap. Replaced pump, temp sender, serpintine, pulleys and wires with autozone wires. Ran fair cold, terrible hot. Put on Belden wires runs better less arcing but still arcs hot. Also used some silicon lube on wire connections this time. Would distributor, cap or both be the issue? Or still wires. These look better then ones on before all trouble began. Please help. Thanks Paczki

WHAT YEAR IS YOUR RIDE? THE ''92 AND UP HAD THE OPTI SPARK SYSTEM WHICH WHEN IT GETS DAMP OR HOSED DOWN BY COOLANT OR WASHING THE MOTOR ALWAY DEVELOPES SOME ISSUE LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE. REPLACING THE CAP IS THE BEST THING TO DO. TWO IF THESE WIRES ARE NEW AND ARE ARCING OFF THE ENGINE GET RID OF THEM.

Engine code P is LT1. Optispark is spent.

Hi again

It is a 94 red convertible. Can see spark running down some wires when hot. Less with second set than first.
1. Can the distributor cap be removed w/o taking off the damper?
2. Any brand recommendations/sources for opti?

Thanks Paczki

Don''t know if Optispark can be pulled without pullin'' damper or not. My damper came right off after unbolting it.

Probably should NOT buy the cheapest opti you can find...
