Those who are familiar with General Motors late model performance certainly would know the name Katech, with their heavy experience in the areas of LSX engine performance, and race ready Corvettes.  Even though the Z06 is among the best value sports cars in the world, there is an obvious demand for aftermarket support for the various models of the Corvette for both street and track use, and this latest release from Katech helps the Z06 even more dominant on a closed circuit or the open road.

Following the form of many popular race-ready street vehicle packages, the Clubsport name signifies the idea of extreme track performance without sacrificing drivability.  Katech has accomplished this by taking a stock Z06, and focusing on weight reduction, handling, and power output…and all this while making the Z06 look even sexier.

The Katech Clubsport package begins with the engine upgrades, although they are fairly mild.  The Halltech ‘Killer Bee’ Air intake system matches the Katech carbon fiber valve covers, and under the car is a unique Katech exhaust system featuring an x-pipe and lightweight mufflers, finished at the rear with a set of Corsa quad tips.  This system not only sounds great, but the construction allows for a bit of weight reduction.

The next step was the addition of a lightweight Brembo Gran Turismo brake kit, featuring two piece cross drilled rotors measuring 14 inches in the front and 13.6 inches in the rear.  Clamping down on those huge rotors are six piston calipers on the front rotors and four pistons calipers in the back, and not only do these high tech brakes help slow the car, but this also allows for less un-sprung rotating mass.  The wheels and tires of the Clubsport model are also improved upon, and the 18/19 inch aluminum forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.

The suspension of the Z06 is track tested, but Katech has also upgraded the Vette there, with double-adjustable coilovers offering seven different rebound and compression settings, and this system was designed by Moton engineers and tested by SCCA World Challenger driver Andy Pilgrim.

The exterior of the Clubsport gets a dressup as well, but nothing is without function. The liftoff hood, front splitter, and rear spoiler are all designed to minimize drag and maximize downforce, along with adding a ton of personality to the Z06.

The Katech Corvette Z06 Clubsport package is available for sale (with a sticker price of around $109,000) at only one place, Les Stanford Chevrolet of Dearborn, Michigan, or if you already own a Z06, a call to Katech can set you up with the awesome Clubsport package.
