I trying to change out an alternator and the engine has a serp belt.
I can''''t get the tention to release. I loosened the torx bolt on the tentioner to no avail. I really need this taken care of ASAP. If any of y''''all have any advice, I sure would appreciate it.
It''''s not on a Chevy, that''''s why I came here to off topic.

PS
I''ve been on two other forums, for the make of this vehicle, for the last two days. A few ''looky lues'', but no help.

Hey Dave, hope I''m not too late to lend help. If the tensioner has a hex bolt or nut then you should be able to get a wrench or socket on it and turn it away from the belt. Some tensioner''s have a square hole in the arm that the square drive of a ratchet will fit into. I fabricated a wrench for my boys Cavalier by cutting a socket to the length that would fit into the space and welded it to a flat stock handle.

Picture of the tensioner? I believe Buck Shot has you handled though. Unless the tensioner has a carrier bolt behind it. Is it on the 460? I don''t have any that new to look at.

Might need to use one of them new Marlins on it,LOL!

Hope you got it sorted out Brother.

Well, I got her out. Thanks a bunch.
The new alt is bad though, so I get to do it again.

Ya don''t suppose, it has anything to do with being ''Made in Mexico''?

"HECHO EN MEXICO" ?????
That seems to be the "NEW" American way !!!!!  Either that or foreign parts that are assembled here (or in a dozen other places).

Oh,......... I have plenty to say on that subject.

....but I,....ah heck, I will.

Put me in the White House, and I''ll show ya how we take care of this so called ''trade deficit'' and, keep our money here.
Inferior products, are not a ''good deal''. Let''s bring OUR industries home.

If here illegally, you WILL return to your own country, with help if the ''need'' should arise.

Our National Guard, will be just that. The ''home defence''. O.K, our new border patrol, and emergency responders for flood, fire, earthquake, etc.
We have a military, don''t we?

We all have the God given ''RIGHT'', to defend our selves, our loved ones, and our property.

And yes, I''m ''pro life''.

We need to be very watchful over the next few years. There is a ''change'' comming, and not in agreement with many people''s wishes. So be careful who ya wish for.

The above post, is strictly an opinon, put forth by C3 Starship.
....oohhh yaaaaa,.............
