I was just curious as to how you calculate the displacement of an engine. I know that it is determined by the stroke and the bore, but what is the actually mathematical equation that I can use to arrive at the final displacement number if I know what the stroke and bore of an engine is? Also without knowing the stoke and the bore of an engine can I use the liter size to determine it? for example is a 5.7L always equal to 345 and is a 7.0L always equal to 427?

displacement is: (Number of cylinders) * 3.14159x(Bore/2)^2 * Stroke:

(3.14159 is pi) and "*means multiply and "^" means to the power of:

My C5R has 8 cylinders and a bore of 4.125 inches and a stroke of 4 inches, so:

8 x 3.14159 x (4.125/2)^2 x 4.0 = 427.6489 cubic inches.

A liter is always 61 cubic inches. Thus, 427 cubic inches is exactly 7 liters --
427/61 = 7.0 liters
366/61 = 6.0 litters
346/61 = 5.7 liters
305/61 = 5 liters
281/61 = 4.6 (Ford Mustang V8 or GM Northstar V8)
256/61 = 4.2 liters (Jaguar, either the straight six in the XKE or V8 in the much newer XJ)
220/61 = 3.6 liters (my Porsche)
183/61 = 3.0 liters
122/61 = 2.0 liters

hay whats up lee just got back fom my trip. was great.the tire size i run are goodyear 32x16.0-15 on a 14 inch rim weld pro stars. i have tried every tire out there and i like goodyear the best a little more money but they are great . what are you running for rubber

I run BFG drag radials on the rear of both cars on the street, wish Goodyear made a 345x18 tire in my size, and we run Mickey Thmpson slicks on the Camaro at the track.

Bore Squared X Stroke X .7854 X The number of cylinders = Cubic Inch Displacement.
