DELGO -> Mothers vs. Meguiars (5/26/2006 9:49:06 PM)

Hi All,
I just bought my first Corvette (2000 C5 Convertible). The guy I bought it from waxed it himself and was an amateur to say the least. I already spent an hour with teh deatil brush get the white residue out of the letters and seams and license plate frame. I want to do a three step process and always used Meguiars on my Truck with incredible results. The problem is I'm hearing that it clouds the clear coat on Corvettes and that I should use Mothers (another great product) any truth to that? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ~Rich

I just switched over to the new Turtle Wax Ice and I think I will be sticking with that for now on. It definitely won't leave any white residue on your ride.

Hey guys, this is my first post so be easy on me. I was just lurking before but this post made me reply....

I am a detail company owner and use 99 percent Meguiars Products. There is nothing in the products that will dull the finish of the clear coat. Every wax is completely differenty in make up anyways.... To provide proof I have attached a link to a Black Vette that I detailed recently using 100 percent Meguiars Products (including 7 and 26 :D). The finished pictures are about half way down on the page. If anybody has any questions reguarding Meguiars' products feel free to PM me and I will respond as soon as I can. Thanks.

I always use meguiars no matter what its on. I just think that meguiars has better products. And even though i dont think Chip Foose would lie when he says he uses Mothers, i just dont want to make the switch. I am happy with where i am at.

I have ben using Meguiars products for 21 years and used them exclusively when I had my detailing business. I currently use 9 with a high speed machine application, followed by 26 or NXT by hand on my '92 black C4, the paint looks like glass.

Hi Vette Lovers;

What a great find of a topic for me! I am a proud new mommy of a '03 yellow conv. Corvette and I have had her two weeks. Her paint and body are flawless and I want her looking as beautiful as I can. A friend told me that McGuires is the best product, but when I went to the webpage I was overwhelmed! They have too many products to choose from. Here's the skinny on my girl (yes, she is a female) She has 4800 miles on her, I mean to tell you that she is pristine. I drive her everyday back and forth to work (about 5 miles a day) I wash her every three days, not the she is dirty, she is just a little dusty, right now I use just water and then a towel dry. She will be hibernating all winter. (We live and ride in Colorado) She has no flaws, no swirls, no scratches. Which products do I use on her. Looking for a "bath" product, a wax, a interior product that won't leak streaks or shine. Wheel and tire cleaner and a polish or wax for the rims. Ohh and something to make those tires look as black as the night. (God, I hate that damn break dust!) Any help for my girl would be appreciated and she thanks you too! :)

PS: It's too damn bad that we Vette owners don't have a chat room.
