Well, another succesful trip to Tenn. and back to Wis.. Corvettes are awesome rides for traveling. I have an 88 with the Hyperchip and a 160 stat.. I didn't push it cuz the cops were thicker than the weeds in my lawn. I locked the cruze in at a comfortable 73mph threw in my favorite blues Cd and just enjoyed the ride. ( I admitt it, I bumped er up to 120+ a few times. Heck,I am in a Vette) But i was suprized at my milage. I was up to 28.3 without the air on and 26.6 with the air on. The air temp was in the low to mid 90's. without the air running the engine temp ran from mid 170's to mid 180's. It varied with the outside air temp. With the air conditioning on it got up around 200deg. Still very acceptable concidering the outside temp. In Chcago I got caught in a near standstill for 45 minutes. I had to turn the air off as the temp got up to 215+deg. The outside air temp showed 110deg. . Then the Car started acting like it wanted to stall from off idle. Really bad hesetation. I prayed it wouldn't die there. But once we started moving the temp came down and it cleared right up.

fyi Premium in KY was $2.81 Ill. was $3.03 for premium and back home in Wi. premium is $3.07

And the Ill toll way is charging .80 cents per to knock anything loose off your car for you. What great guys, NOT!!

Just wanted to pass it hat along. Even an old 88 with 100,000 on the clock still makes a great traveling companion.

thanks,

joe

Sounds like you had a good time (aside from the 45 minutes of traffic). How long was your total trip?

It's 620 miles my driveway to my sisters. At the rate I went it takes a little less than 9 hours. I've made it in 8 1/4 hours once, but I have a CDL so I generally take it more on the easy side. I go every year and the ride never gets boring. This is my 5th year going down there. When i get home I could jump right back in and go back the next weekend. But I am one of those guys who loves driving my Vette. I usually go to put gas in it and by the time I get back home the gas gage is back where it was before I left.

That's some great gas mileage. The best I've gotten so far is 17.5 mpg.
