I just found out the 89 coupe I bought has the Z51 handling package. I've done some searches but haven't found much on this option. I know it's not the adjustable suspension, can someone enlighten me? I also found out it has the GHO axle. Does someone know the ratio? Thanks

Well, I found out a partial answer. Z51 package sold for $575 in 1989. It includes fiberglass rear spings, cross-drilled rotors, and heavier duty suspension components. The GHO axle ratio is 3.54 apparently was only produced in early '89.

The Z51 package mostly had to do with the suspension, like stiffer shocks, larger disc brakes,faster-ratio steering and the highest performing tires available for the particular year.In other words,it handled the twisties better, with more control, and it stopped better, which is ALWAYS important!!
