I'm new to the Corvette World. I looked at a beautiful 1960 Corvette today (black with silver coves and red interior). It has a 281 engine with 2 x 4 barrel carbs. It has a 4-speed manual transmission. After looking at the car, I did some research online and the only manual transmissions I see available in 1960 were 3-speeds.

Is there a chance that this is a special production 1960 or is it more likely that this Vette has been altered through the years and a 4-speed installed replacing the original 3-speed?

Any help or advice you can give me before I possibly make an offer on this beautiful car would be greatly appreciated...thanks!!

Sorry about the late response but had to wait 'til got back to my books. The 1960 did have a 4-spd available.
