1960 'vette renovation!
 
Hi,
I have a beautiful Corvette from 1960. I want to have it renovated and I need advice from you. First of all I want to put in power steering. Do you know where are the best places to get the parts for that? Please mind I live in Europe, France so internet shops are preferred. Also, do you think all wiring should be changed? Any other changes, you reckon?
Any advice is much appreciated!

All depends on how much "renovation" you want to do.
Are you pondering a total frame off restoration, a tune up, or something in between?

The insulation on wiring can become brittle over time, especially in areas of high temps.
Check over your wiring and see if the insulation is degrading. If so, ya might concider replacing that wiring harness. I don't recommend "patch work" repairs on wiring if you have multiple issues in the same harness. It works, just looks cheep (Bubbaized).

I am thinking of "something in between" to a total makeover... Much depends on the advice. Safety definitely comes first thats why i thought of changing all the wires right away. What good is a burned 'vette? :) Please share more advice!

Well, start at the ground and work up.
Safety, I totally agree.
Brake system. I wouldn't neccessarily replace the lines unless you notice any damage, but rebuild each wheel cyl and the master cyl. Replace shoes and any rusted hardware.
A point I'd like to make, CLEAN. Clean the area before removing parts, and put it back together clean.
Suspension, replace bushings and grommets. While you're at it, take care of any barring issues you may have at each wheel.
Steering componant upgrade, make sure all ball joints are tight an lubed.
Have the cooling system flushed and check rad for damage.
Well, that'll keep ya busy for an hour or two. LOL

Body mount grommets and webbing, condition of exhaust system, any leaks from trans or eng, and don't skip the dif, they can leak too. Axle seals and bearing packing.
Have fun, that's the main thing.
