1961 283 315 hp value?

Can anyone tell me about how much a 315 hp 283 from a 61 vette is worth. It is a long block with no intake, fuel body, or valve covers. It hasn't run in 30 years and has been stored in his basement. The mileage on it is not known. A friend of mine wants to sell it and is wondering how much he should ask for it. Thanks for any info. (He also has an L82 from a 73 that he iswillingto part with if anybody can help out on that)

If the block hasn't been decked and the stamp pad numbers are undisturbed, the engine could be worth quite a bit to the owner of the car that matches it.

Check the VIN derivative on the pad, and post the numbers--who knows, maybe that car still exists somewhere.

Take some numbers and run them through www.mortec.com !
A great data bank for running numbers! :)
