breaks on a 61
 

I would like to swap my drums for disk with bolt on parts. I do not want to make alterations to the car. Can this be done with parts from the salvage yard?

I don't think that will work but there are several outfits out there that sell conversion kits to do that very thing. I don't own a C1 (want one really bad!) so I can't direct you exactly but places like Eckler's,Corvette Central,Mid America,Zip's,Summit racing or Jeg's should be able to help. You could also google something like "61 Corvette disc brakes" and something will almost certainly surface. I'm pretty sure that there are mounting brackets out there(adapters?) that will mount later model calipers to your spindles and differential. If you locate them,then you can do the salvage yard cha-cha,find the right stuff and rebuild it to a reliable condition and go that way.Then you have to adapt the hubs and rotors to your spindles and axles(bearing /spacer kits). That's gonna be a little cheaper but will use up a lot of time. Depending on your mechanical abilities there are many options. Good Luck!
