New suspension is much too high
 

I just had a fiberglass spring, new front springs and shocks but suddenly the car is at least 2 inches too high...
I read that leaf springs settle and sometimes require the longer 8" bolts to lower the car, but couldn't find any info on why the front end is so high and what to do about it.

The problem is that this is a full car rebuild so the suspension was done a years before I finally got the engine in.... We always assumed it was just a weight issue and it would drop as soon as the engine was installed.... not the case..

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. Possibly the spring rating it's too great such as you might have big block springs in a small block car. Did you compare the free length of the new springs versus the old springs?

Sadly no... I bought the upgrade kit years ago and had a shop I stall them but the body was not yet on the frame nor was the engine... by the time we realized that the height was off it was years later...

would you suggest having them cut down or is there a way to cross reference dimensions to figure out what I have vs what I need?

Can you contact the supplier to see what set of springs you received? The other possibility would be to install coilover shocks and you can adjust the height to suit your pleasure.

Edit: Cutting the springs down will increase the spring rate which will make it ride worse.

Sometimes guys tighten up the a-arm bushing bolts with the car elevated or without an engine in it and that locks down the bushings in the wrong position and keeps the car elevated. You might just loosen the bolts at the bushings [ upper & lower ] a bit and bounce the frt. end and see if it settles down. hope this helps.
