Synthetic oils

I am a believer in synthetic oils, but not sure if they are safe for older engines. Would it be safe to put synthetic oil into a 65 vette 327 engine? Thanks!

The only problem I would foresee would be possibly leaking through the old seals and gaskets.

Welcome to the forum.

Personally I'd stick w/ conventional oil.

The older engines need the zinc additive - which you can add or find in various racing oils.

You can also get zinc additives such as GM's EOS. I believe diesel oil might still have higher zinc in it.

I use VALVOLINE Racing Oil 10W 30 - it includes HIGH ZINC - I think it's better than mixing in the additive - its engineered to be correct.

Relative to the Vavoline oil - its VR1
