Synthetic oils
I am a believer in synthetic oils, but not sure if they are safe for older engines. Would it be safe to put synthetic oil into a 65 vette 327 engine? Thanks!

The only problem I would foresee would be possibly leaking through the old seals and gaskets.

I have had the same question?
1963 340hp survivor car with 22,000miles Motor never has been opened up or removed and it is due for an oil change after 100 miles and 4 years..lol |
Welcome to the forum.
Personally I'd stick w/ conventional oil. |
The older engines need the zinc additive - which you can add or find in various racing oils.
|
You can also get zinc additives such as GM's EOS. I believe diesel oil might still have higher zinc in it.

I use VALVOLINE Racing Oil 10W 30 - it includes HIGH ZINC - I think it's better than mixing in the additive - its engineered to be correct.

Relative to the Vavoline oil - its VR1
