Tires/wheels

Good afternood. My name is Jim and I'm new to this forum. I'm looking for some tire info for my 62. The wife bought me a set of Crager 7" chrome 15" wheels and I'm trying to determine what size radials I can put on these wheels. Any ideas?
Thanks
Jim G

RE: Tires/wheels

well, my suggestion is to find a tire that you like and/or trust. then any decent tire store can tell you what size tires of that brand are recommended for use with 15x7 rims. off the top of my head i do not know for sure, but i know that on my 17x7 rims, i can fit up to around a 235 on a 7inch wide rim. can you tell me the factory tire size? that way i could tell you about what size you could go to safely, and do you want a wide tire look in the back? it tends to provide a more aggressive stance...i used to sell tires as part of my job, so i know my way around things a bit.

On that subject of tires, I want to put some wide tires on my 62 to accomodate my new ZZ383/425 HP motor. I don't want to cut/tub the wheel wheels but rather go inside by moving over the leaf springs and maybe doing coil over shocks or adding an air suspension system. Anybody have any experience doing this or suggestions on what to do/not do?

hmmm...i do not, because when i bought the new rear diff for my track car, the perchs were already moved inward.
