69 350 Vet

Friend of mine is selling a 69 numbers matching 350, 350 hp.(67k on it)?
4speed car, side pipes and good frame.
Looks like the engine has never been out of the car.
Vet has new rims and rubber and new seat covers and rugs.
The console looks beat and so does the gauge cluster.
The owner before my friend painted the vet himself and it is a fair job.
He never removed the weather stipping before painting.
My friend has had this car 4 years and drove it twice.
He said he would sell it to me for 14k.
My 74 is in a lot better shape and I know if I buy this one it will turn out to be a money pit.
Sorry no pictures yet.
What do you all think about the price.

I assume it's a coupe and new rims are OEM rallys w/ new trim rings & caps. Side pipe covers are very susceptible to road salt corrosion, so check the chrome plating closely. They can be re-chromed tho. Assuming you'd probably need to do shocks, pads, calipers, parking brakes, and most of the interior, I'd say $14K is at the high end but it's hard to say w/o seeing it. Good luck. ;)

Sounds a little high to me too. You may have to work on the suspension parts, bushings and such. Its hard to give a complete run down, not having seen the car myself. You may be looking at several Gs to bring her back to better condition. Look her over real good, and dont judge by emotion, be realistic. ;)

Hi Schoon, to some people $14,000 is a months pay to some of us it's a years pay. A 69 Big block vert brings big bucks but whats a mint condition 69 T-Top 350 worth?
A center console is doable but the guage cluster can cost real money, does it need new weatherstrip to keep that interior looking new? And a new paint job might be needed? That's big bucks. I can only think about all the things I found out that I needed after driving my car for 6 months. A 69 would be a realy cool car to own but how much will it cost to bring it back to mint condition and what would it be worth then?
What would you want to do with it? Repair it on Spec or keep it for years as you restore it? As I rebuilt my car it was Barret-Jackson clean as yours was, I remember you said you did the frame in POR and had everything spotless as I did, however after a few years of using mine as a daily driver the bottom would take countless hours to even get it close to near new.
If you have a desire to own a Chrome Bumper Vette than go for it, just think about how much it has cost to get your 74 to the condition where you can be proud of it.
Much depends on what money and time and what you would do with the 69.
PG.

Is it still for sale and if so, where is it located? I have a friend that is looking for a 69 small block 4 speed. $14,000 is a little high for a coupe. I paid $10,000 for my drop top a few years ago and it needed an engine. What it did not need was body work and paint. My total investment was $25,000 (no labor cost). It appraised at $36,000. My guess for a fair price for the car would be $10,000. The engine will probably be weak and in need of a rebuild as well as the trans and the rear. The fuel lines and brake lines will have to be replaced as well as the calipers and rotors, whelle bearings and seals, suspension bushings, springs and shocks, gas tank, radiator, etc... Trust me, a body off gets expensive. I have done this on the Vette and three Camaros. If you ever intend to do something like that to make money, forget it. The car will never be worth the sum of the parts and labor unless it is a rare production model. OK, enough ranting. Back to the original question, Is it still for sale?
