69 convertible frame flex
looking for help, I purchased a 69 c3 convertible from an older gentleman who has been restoring it for a long time, looks like most of the mechanical parts have been replaced or restored but the body need to be finished, however when I put it on jack stands the front of the frame flexes quite a bit to the point the door won’t close, not sure why...is it missing some braces or is it normal?https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...cb27f90f9.jpeghttps://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...f51c4629f.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...d5cbbd2fe.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...ef2fd8bd6.jpeg |
Welcome to the forum.
Sure looks nice underneath. Afraid I can't offer much help. I assume the doors closed normally when the car is on the ground. |
Yes, it’s fine when it’s on the ground. thanks John |
I do know that the frame structure for a roadster is not nearly as stiff as a coupe. That's why the roadsters have the interlocking wedges on the door to help stiffen it when the door is closed.

All frames have some flex in them or it would be like driving a tank down the road,( Ever driven a Mack truck with no trailer on?) always have doors closed when on jack or hoist because i have seen it put door striker pins out of line or the door now has a sag or gap ....
.... by the way my doors wont open when on hoist or jack lol |
..... Oh and yes that is one clean looking underside hats off :)
