alignment

I drove the vette home from the frame shop Friday afternoon, wow-nice improvement on handling. I finished a complete front and rear suspension rebuild a few weeks ago and needed a four wheel alignment. When I re-assembled the suspension I transfered the measurements from the old strut rods and tie rods to the new components so I new it was close enough to drive to the frame shop, I also installed the shim packs front and rear the same as I took out. So now the car is ready for the summer and I won't be wrenching on it much untill the next major project, I'm just going to relax a bit and drive it as much as I can.

Yes Starship, it is a great feeling-in more ways than one, it's great to feel the car going hard into a turn and actualy responding to the driver's demands, but then there's also the feeling of accomplishment and pride from the hours of labor, research, and the ingenuity it takes to tackle a project and end up with something better and /or different than what you started with. Also Dave, while we're on the subject of suspension mods, when you finished with your adjustable components how did you dial in the ride height?, did you keep it close to factory or did you have your own numbers in mind?. I measured the ride height on mine before I had the alignment and it's close to an inch higher than the factory specs call for, I attribute this to the new composit rear spring and the gas shocks, I was'nt trying to alter the geometry of the car but thats the way it's 'gonna be now.

RE: alignment

I dropped it 1 1/2 inches all the way around. I can now scalp chipmonks when I straddle them. :D
BTW, shocks have no determinationon ride height.
