HELP !!!!
 

Help!
I have recently got a 68 stingray convertible which has been painted the wrong shade of red - the colour code is nowhere to be found, all I can find is an area inside one of the doors that looks to be the original colour - a solid fairly bright red(not metallic)
Anyone got any info on the correct colour it should be - a paint code would be even better!!

There should be a tag on the driver's side front door pillar which contains the build date interior trim and exterior color. Those codes will tell you the original color. If that is missing there could be a sticker on top of the gas tank which lists all the cars options including color. If that is missing then you have to look for clues of the original paint.

If you believe the paint you saw to be original then there was only one red for 68 Vettes and that was rally red code #974. Any good professional body shop or body shop supply company can look up the formula for this color and reproduce it for you.

The only red like color in 68 was Cordovan Maroon code # 988 this was a much darker shade than the rally red which was a bright red.
