Odd tabs on stock 71 valve covers
There are a couple of tabs on the stock covers. Passenger side. Anyone know what they were used for.

Welcome to the forum.
The are to spread the load of the bolt and help the gasket seal better. I thought they would be on all eight bolts tho. Oops, now I see you are talking about the brackets on top of the valve cover. Probably were used to attach hoses and/or wires to such as emissions related stuff. Just a guess. Probably could see in the Corvette Assembly Manual. |
Thank you. I forgot about California Emissions. That’s what it is. Looks unfinished.
I’m going to take some Artistic License and go to LT1 aluminum covers.

Good move. I had mine polished and they look 100% better.
