question on interior color

I have a '69 Can-Am white coupe with gunmetal gray interior. I've never actually seen another Corvette with gunmetal interior and I go to the Corvette shows down here. That interior color was only offered on the Can-Am White, Tuxedo Black, and Cortez Silver cars. Does anyone know how many of these were manufactured?

RE: question on interior color

Gunmetal leather 96 built (code 417)
Gunmetal vinyl 606 built (code 416)

There's no exact Cam-Am w/ gunmetal build numbers, hell, there's no known number of CamAms built.

RE: question on interior color

I'm not looking for exact numbers. A guy at Ecklers told me that there were 694 built but I have no way to verify that and I don't know where he got the number from.I'd just like to know if anyone on the forum has seen one.

RE: question on interior color

This post prompted me to join because I too have seen very few of these interiors. My '69 is a 350/350 4spd convertible withCortez Silver paint (with gunmetal of course) and a white top. I've checked the build codes and I knowthese are the original colors. If I remember correctly, less than 2 % of 1969 production had this interior color.

As for spotting these interiors I have been to the Bloomington Gold show 4 years in row. After seeing thousands of cars the only '69 I ever saw was a L-88 T-Top car that was also silver. I did see a '68427 T-Top carwhich wassilver as well. On top of that, after looking at hundreds of ads and corvette pics on the net (this is what vette guys do for fun during the long winters) I have only seen one. It was a black T-Top '69 for sale; it might have been on Proteams website. As for convertibles, I have never found a single one with the gunmetal color in either vinyl or leather. By my estimations there were probably less than 35 L-46 Conv. 4spd cars built with this combination.

RE: question on interior color

Hey, ricknhis69, thanks for answering my post. I was feeling a little lonely here.Mine's an L-46 with the m-21 tranny, vinyl seats, numbers matching, completely stock.I've been going to the Corvette-Chevy Expo down her for over twenty years and have never seen another like it. I've seen photos of two and I've seen the one at ProTeam.Beautiful. I cruise the web looking at them too. It's kind of hard to believe they built so few of these.

What were the particulars on the ones you've seen?

RE: question on interior color

ricknhis69, I couldn't tell you anything about those cars. They were just photos that I saw several years ago. I was looking at ProTeam a couple of weeks ago and saw the ad there describing the interior as "very rare gunmetal gray" and it made me curious again. I always look for one at the shows but no luck there. How do you like your car?

RE: question on interior color

I love it. It's been converted to an LT-1 (actually more than an LT-1) so its a lot of fun to drive. Burning 25% race gasis kind of a pain but the performance reward is definitely there and it runs so sweet (unless you're trying to idle).
