Radiator
Just purchased a 1979 corvette and the radiator is leaking. I met a mechanic and he suggested a spectra cu718 brass radiator. I am far from a gear head so I can use some advice.

Welcome to the forum.
If it fits w/o any mods and is a four tube core, then should be fine. Make sure the inlet and outlet are the same so stock upper and lower hoses will fit. Also if auto trans, then a cooler is req'd in the radiator. |

There should be two lines about 3/8 inch diameter running from the transmission to one of the tanks on the side of the radiator. That transmission cooler is inside the radiator.
I would check and see what modifications they made to get it to fit. Any modifications will void the manufacturer's warranty. If you have an air conditioned car, they may of had to remove the condenser to get the radiator in. Of course if they modified the radiator such that they didn't have to remove the condenser, then that's a different story. |
