removal of the nose piece

The lady I bought my 79 vette from had run into her garage and pushed the nose piece back some. It is pushing the front body part (the part of the body that goes around the headlights). If I need to turn my lights on, I have to go out and push down on the area of the body by the lights and they pop up. I don't have a problem with it but it won't pass the stateinspection. the nose is not crakced. How do I loosen the nose up and pull it back out a little?

RE: removal of the nose piece

A. pull the little vacuum valve switch under the steering column out once the headlights are up, it will keep the headlights in the up position. Take the car to inspection with the headlights up.

B. put the car up on a lift and get at all the little nut and bolt fasteners that hold the front nose in place, remove the nose, repair the damage and put it all back together.

C. if the damage is minor enough that it is just a minor clearance issue, use some sandpaper on the plastic nose piece to givethe headlight bucketsa little wiggle room.
