RIP my friend

I received some bad news this morning, a building in which numerous vehicles were being worked on and stored, including my 79 vette had burned to the ground. Thank the lord there was no personal injuries or loss of life.
The C3, in my mind, is the sexiest of the 8 generations of vettes and I know there’s C3 haters out there, due largely because of government mandates on safety and emissions. The true lovers of the C3 have taken these classics and kept them the way they came off the assembly line or, as I did, give them back what the mandates took away.
I purchased my vette in the fall of 2017 and began laying out the plan to give her the horsepower and handling she deserves. Spring of 18’ the start of the rebirth began with pulling the L48 and TH350 trans and building the original 350/195hp into a 383/475hp Stroker and getting the power to the ground through a 200 4R with OD. Improvements were also made in the suspension front and back along with paint and bodywork. We were just finishing up the exhaust system with plans to get her back home in the garage finishing up interior work, getting her ready to enjoy the summer on rides with the T-top open and wind in the hair.
4 years of planning, saving, working on, and dreaming came to an end this morning when I received the news.
Thanks to all that have been there with advice during this time, this is a great forum so continue with what you do!

Good heavens, that was a hot fire! She was a great looking car, save your motor. Should you decide to do another I have a friend on the west coast who has a selection of C3 project cars. And lots of parts cars.

Sorry for your loss. That's got to be a real gut punch. 😟

Northwoods79 05-08-2021 04:59 PM

Thanks guys for the words of support, yes it was a hell of a gut punch.
the good thing is that before we headed to Florida this past winter I increased the insurance coverage as much as the insurance company would allow without an appraisal which I planned to get once she was completed.
I may lose some $ but it could of been a lot worse

Again - thanks guys and I’ll keep you posted
