Seat belts are seized
I'm hoping someone can tell me about replacing or fixing the seat belts in my 1975 T-Top.
I'm not sure how to get at them. Or what the best solution is, can someone help me.... |
RE: Seat belts are seized
yea mine are stuck too...and dosnt it suck...(of course the passenger side works perfect) but to get at em you have to remove the seat and theres a little metal plate you have to take off and the reel will be under there. it probably rusted up (thats what happened to mine) and the top one should just be a big ass bolt covered with a piece of plastic. hope this helps. oh and you can buy new ones at www.ecklers.com they're life savers

Thank you so much for the advice. I was going to go to ecklers for new ones but they don't say anything about the wire for seat belt belt warning light and alarm? Do you think its a complete replacement warning light wired and all?

Try a little WD-40 i hear it works wonders. seriously the mechanism might need some cleaning and lubing.

RE: Seat belts are seized
Not sure if you fixed your problem or not.. But if you just need a seat belt and nothing special.. You can go to Auto Zone and get a lap belt.. My driver side had one, but the passenger side didn't.. And my girlfriend didn't like that too much ;) .. Although I sorta cheated on installation.. If you pull the seat back down, there's 2 bolts on the bottom part of the seat.. I just ran the belt how the instructions said, and put the bolt through the plate and and screwed it back on.. It worked amazingly ;) I was quite proud of myself.. :P
