TIRES, TIRES, TIRES

Gentlemen, Don't look behind you either. Here'stwo questions for ya. TIRES. I am looking for Goodyear Eagle GT II Tires ,which I know that theier are none around in the size I am looking for. My car has 255/70/15 the size from the factory, Will a 255/60/15 fit without any mods? Or I can keep 70's in the front with 60's in the rearI have already installed a composite rear spring. And does someone have these tires on a shelf somewhere. I heard goodyear dropped them but were going to start producing them again, is that true? Love this forum so I'll keep asking ? [8D]

sorry guys , I got my numbers messed up. I have 225/70/15 will the 255 fit without any mods and if I change to the 255/60 All I have to do is change the speedo gear to keep the ratio right, correct ?

RE: TIRES, TIRES, TIRES

Nope, no mods needed. Speedo gear yes. I had my wife clock me in her pickup, and I just read the speedo accordingly. 70 is 77. ;)

Hey Batesy80...
I run BF Goodrich TA's on my 73. The rears are 275/60-15 and up to that size the stock rim is ok. As Starship sez... you will have to change the speedo gear. My original was a 22 tooth, which read 72 mph when I was really goin 83. I went to a 19 tooth and now I am close to right on. I also run 235/60-15's on the front with no rubbing at full lock on the steering.
Good luck,
Wedge

Got a custom63 tooth in mine and I can hit 125 in first gear.....tops out at about 263. When I finally get that Isky sticker I ordered........look OUT.
lol......just kidding batesy....should be able to do it no-prob with just the speedo change.
If you want to know the joke about stickers....look at the "Engine Question" thred.....you'll prolly get a good laugh.

Welcome to the forum!!!!!!!

I'm running 255-60/15s on 8.5" rims with 0.5" negative offset. They clear the parking brake cable bracket on the trailing arm by about 0.25". I had to trim a little 'glass behind the rocker panel at the bottom rear of front wheel openings. Stock wheels clear just fine. Tire Rack still carries BFG T/As in 255-60/15s. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...p;x=79&y=6

hey Ax, I read that one on the engineand got a good laugh from the reply's. I'm going with the 255/60 and I talked to a corvette machanic and he looked it up for me and the 19 tooth is the one for both the 225/70 and 255/60, it threw a question mark but thats what the book calls for. He must know what he's talking about cause thats all he works on. Just going to enjoy the riding while it's nice out, then break out the winter toys, and work on the summer one.

Just did the math and there's less than 2% difference between the two sizes. So you mech. is correct. :)
