vacuum line questions

I was wondering if all the vacuum lines were interconnected so that if one part fails or leaks(lets say headlights) then the other parts of the system also fail(like the a/c door actuators) or are they all independant of each other and can be fixed individually. Also, is there areason there has to be a vacuum door to open the air to theinterior or can theyjust be forced open all the time as a temporary fix.
Thanks in advance. I am trying to make my final decision on a certain car.

RE: vacuum line questions

Vacuum is vacuum, and it all comes from the intake. IMO, a leak in one system will, to some degree, affect all other vacuum systems.
You can bypass any one of these systems and operate them manually, but be prepared to scrape a knuckle or two.

I had both seals blown on my headlight accuators on my 79 and all my other vacuum draw assessories still worked fine. So I think even though it all comes from the intake vacuum they are still seperate it some ways

RE: vacuum line questions

Good point. Now that you mention it, each system does have it's own valve to operate independently. So, what do I know? :DThis old age thing kinda limits my thinkin' processes some times.
Uh,.....what was the question?
