water leaking into passenger floor

I washed my 79 Vette yesterday in the driveway and when I was done, I found water inside on the floor of the passenger side floor. I can't see where it came in at, I put a light in the engine compartment and then looked inside the car to see if I could see where it was coming in at, no luck. I don't see any rust anywhere in the engine compartment or inside the car, but there is a hole somewhere. Anyone ever have this problem? Ideas?

Hi riley6, it's probably not leaking through the firewall itself but may be a seam within the cowl (wiper area). Also the fresh air plenum is fed from the cowl on the right side, the front fender is part of the air plenum and they are known to seperate from the cabin and can be a cause of hot air and water entering in the passenger area.

Mine leaked where the duct that allows fresh air into the car penetrated the inner wall. (the one 78buckshot referred to) I found it when I put factory A/C in. Fixed by reaching down and putting some silicone sealer (RTV) around the duct.

you need to get down there with a light and check it out. seal what you see and check it again. mine took a few tries but a tube of seamsealer and a few days later my leak was gone. mine was leaking mostly from the kick panel areas. if you cant cure the problem ecklers sells a book specifically for corvette water leaks.
