1987 Corvette Valve Question

I am experience slight popping from the exhaust at idle andsluggage performace while cruising. Iam considering a valve job but was told that the cam could have come worn lobes as well. Car has 130,000 miles on original motor and has excellent compression and does not burn a drop of oil with plugs always clear.Just not sure what to do and looking for suggestions.

RE: 1987 Corvette Valve Question

What you describe indicates a valve job would be wasted money. If there were valve issues, the compression would be down. What have you done to ensure the injectors are happy and healthy? I find to keep my injected stuff happy I need to run a bottle of injector cleaner every fourth or so tank of gas. Can you detect a miss at increased rpm? Has your fuel mileage changed lately! !30 k with nothing done to the injectors is getting in the neighborhood of possible problems. You can also run a few ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil in both the fuel and the crankcase to help ward off icky sticky gum deposited on engine parts.
