1989 corvette motor HP question

Hey guys and gals! Just a quick question! Does anyone know what GM did to some 1989 corvette L-98's to give them 245HP and some only 240HP? Mine has the 245HP but just want to know whats different. Thanks all! Love this place!

I had a 90 and it had 240 with aluminum heads. I know 87 had 235 because it went from cast to aluminum. Good quietsion though. my 86 now only has 230 stock. I say drop a crate in there and call it a day.:D

If ya wanna get the skinny on the TPI motor, read Gordon Killebrew's stuff. He knows 'em better than the guys at Bowling Green. There was also a write-up in Corvette and Chevy Trader about5 years ago. Shouldn't be too hard to find in 'archives'. The best write-up I've seen was called 'Tuning TPI', or somethin' like that. I can't find it either.[:@]

Corvette specs book shows that cars with dual outlet mufflers (coupes w/ 3.07 gears)developed245 hp @4300 rpm. The 240 hp developed thatat 4000 rpm.Book also indicates all came with aluminum heads. The mufflers seem to be the difference.

It depends on your axle ratio and your exhaust system,I do believe. If you have a factory 3.07 ratio, then you do have the low-restriction mufflers and the 245HP.Either way, hey,it's still a Vette!! Nothing better to drive, baby!!!!!
