1993, changed fuse, now car wont start

I have a 1993 Anniversary Model and I did something foolish again. This is the second time this has happened. I bought the car used 10 years ago. AC doesnt work so I thought I would check fuse back then...Found a blown fuse(5amp) took it out , replaced it with a new fuse(Car running fine prior to this) Went to start car, car would not start...and as I recall I just left it and then about a week later it miraculously started when I tried.
This time, I had removed the battery to use in my 1979 vette, then when I went to place battery back in the 1993 it would not start (battery needed charged) While I was waiting for battery to charge stupid me decided to check fuses(had forgotten previous issue) found the blown ac fuse, changed it again, put charged battery in and nothing...no headlights, no interior lights...nothing..Thought maybe security issue so I put key in door to unlock relock and heard a clicking noise coming from under glove box..had to unhook negative cable to get it to stop...(At that point in time tho the light in glove box worked, but still no headlights...) Any idea on this and why in the world does changing a fuse cause issues??? I am hoping that after I let the car sit for a week it will finally start again but I am just clueless what the connection is between fuses and nothing working????

Sounds like the battery has gone south. Time for a new one or get the old one checked?

Check the battery connections closely.
