87 Front Brakes Dragging

The front brakes on my 87 do not release as they should, especially the right front. I have disassembled the master cylinder and it operates smoothly, seals and o-rings are good, replaced the rubber hose to the right front, removed and disassembled all calipers, the pistons, cylinders, seals, and boots are good, with no corrosion or sign of damage. There should be some kind of valve or block to separate the front line from the master cylinder into two lines going to each front wheel. Does anyone know the location of this and I have found a part called a pump motor relay for this model, but haven't found any thing else to verify that this part is indeed on this model. The front brakes are really dragging hard, especially the right, it is very hard to turn using the wheel to turn it with. Any help will be greatly appreciated beyond belief. These things are driving me crazy. Thanks.

RE: 87 Front Brakes Dragging

About the only other possible culprit would be the proportioning valve and it is right below and a little forward of the master cylinder on the inside ot the frame. It's that block with all the brake lines going in and out of it. Most of the time when I had this problem(dragging calipers) it was a bleeding issue, any air in the system anywhere near a caliper will expand as soon as the car starts to move and cause the brakes to apply. Does the caliper release when you open the bleeder valve?

Front brake drag finally fixed.

I finally got the brakes working as they should. The ABS modulator valve went bad and had the right front shut off. I removed it and replaced it with brass tees in the lines where the valve was. I have regular power brakes now and they work great.
