92 Fuel Pump
I think I have burn up my fuel pump. Is it in the tank? How difficult is it to change. 92 vette

Its in the tank and its not that hard. Here is a link that explains how to remove the stock one (takes a minute to download)(Granted, this is for a Racetronix performance pump but the instructions are the same for REMOVAL of a regular pump - YOU ONLY NEED TO GO THROUGH STEP 12 to remove the stock one): http://www.blowerworks.net/download/GSS340IG.pdf

Why do you think that? Did the pressure gauge say '0'?
Thanks Tom |
"Many have suggested that it is probably the fuel pump."
"Many friends were saying you will have to drop the tank, etc." Even if every one of those friends is a mechanic, they didn't give the right advice. Fuel pumps DO fail. And when money's tight, and the economy is bad, gas tanks tend to stay near 'E', which will allow a pump to get hot and fail. Still, I would NEVER buy a part blindly (without doing a diagnostic test). Such as in your case, checking fuel pressure. If you can lock on a bicycle pump to the stem, and put air in a tire, you can check fuel pressure. But if you're rich, can I have some cash PM me? |
