93 C4 won't stay on steep driveway!

Has anyone had this experience?

I parked my vette on a steep driveway. I left it in 1st and got out of the car. I heard a strange very short noise and went back to investigate.

The Vette would make a strange noise and move down the driveway about a 1/4 of an inch each time it made this noise.

I had to block the wheels to keep it from moving. (parking brake not working)

The compression seems fine.

Has anyone had this occur?

I have never seen this before with a standard transmission.

Get a new parking brake installed A.S.A.P. That is mandatory for a manual tranny. Also I know theres a linkage cable on the tranny. I cant remember the name. Ill check on that. Could be a bad collar on teh gear? Is your fluid full? Everything else ok? Shifting normal? When did this happen what other symptooms. I am not to familiar with a manual but there must be something not locking. Any leaks?

You need to adjust your parking brake, repair cables, check rear brake shoes on the inside of your rear brake rotors. Manual transmissions and clutches were not made to be used as a parking brake. ;)

I dont know 2 much about manuals I thought they locked the car in place without the brake but still needed the brake. :DNo wonder I like autos more.

The symptoms you describe is the engine slowly turninig over. It seems that gravity is trying to give you a pushstart?? Try it in sixth and see if it does it more/faster. There would be a greater ma in a higher gear. Do it with the ignition on and it should start.
