95 vette

going to buy a k+n filter(drop in) for my 95 vette. should I leave the cover off and the filter exposed? I have seen some guys do this.let me know your thoughts, will I pick up any performance. also any suggestions for minor performance mods are welcome. thanks

I really don't know if there would be any advantage to opening the up the filter cover.

Just make sure you have a good seal on the edges of the filter when installing it. Mine came with foam & did not seal very well. This was a long time ago & I'm sure that problem has been resolved.

Yeah thats right and I did a search for the instructions but had no luck !
It's not hard with a side angle cutter .
I did the one on the Hot Rod and its basicaly cutting out the louvered area leaving the rim intact .
There is a gain in HP and its a cheap mod !

The problem with the cone type filters is they operate in the engine bay which has less cold forced air than the air from the front via the air dam !

If you have forced induction go with the cones , twins work well if you don't open up the stock lid and go K & N .
