96 rear brakes swap to 85 will it work?

I have 2 85's a 90 , and a 92, the 90 and 92 stop great but the 85's dont ,infact it can be scary at times.I just picked up a 96 parts car and was wondering if a swap would work. looking at the 85 the e brake is set up like a small drum brake on the inside of the disc in the hat area, and the 96 just clamps the disc, if i remove all the drum e brake crap from the 85 and change the bracket with the ears for the caliper from 96over to the 85then put the 96 disc and caliper on will it work correctly? or am i overlooking something here ? any one out there done a swap like this ? i am ready to do this tonite but i dont want it to be a waste of time .... any input will be helpful thanks in advance

You need to make sure that the wheels you want to use will fit. I read something about that, when I was looking for a rear end to use for my '40 Olds. I'm looking to fit 15 inch wheels and flabby tires on it though, and the later design won't take 15's. Might not apply here though, because you are probably using larger wheels. Probably should check it though.

thanks, decided to sell the 85's and keep the 90 and 92. the swap does in fact work for anyone who wants to know.
