Air conditioning - Air Mix Valve Actuator '89

Anyone know where i can get this part?? Its a small part called an air mixture valve actuator located
inside firewall and behind dash that decides wether to blow hot or cold air into interior.
I have a 1989 corvette. GM has discontinued it, and i'm burning up in my car!

Where you able to fix the AC problem by replacing the air mix valve actuator? How hard is it to get to the actuator? I have the same problem with my 89 C4 with electronic climate control system.

Hey Joe, First of all, thanks for sharing that information on where to locate the Air mixture valve actuator. On the other hand, I'm disapointed that you didn't reply to 'hedder' on his request for installation info. I've noticed that this Forum has hundreds of hits, and very few replys. If you didn't install it yourself, you could have let him know the labor cost. This Forum would be so much more helpful if more people would share their knowledge & experiences instead of only wanting something for themselves. Joe, this is not directed at you it's for everyone that uses this Forum. take-take-take PUT SOMETHING BACK Regards, Mike

Hey Joe, I realize this reply is untimely, but maybe it can help someone else. I had the same problem with my '89. When I was unable to locate a " flapper door " actuater, I went to Ace hardware and bought 2 copper half-inch dia. street ell's and soldered them together to form a horseshoe or "U" shape fitting. Disconnected both heater hoses from the heater core and attached them to my "U" shaed fitting by-passing the heater core. This is for Summertime. Wintertime, I reconnect to the heater core. Regards, Mike

1st thing that I would do is take the black box off the firewall and open it up and see if any of the solder joints are loose in there. That was what was wrong with my 89.
